General Description
You can use Google Video to upload your screen casts and subsequently post them to a blog where you can categorize them and make your screen casts more easily accessible for others to view.
What You Need to Get Started
In order to post your screen cast to Google Video and Blogger you will need to:
1) Record a video using Camtasia Studio see instructions http://www.rar.duhs.duke.edu/wiki/index.php/Camtasia_Studio
2). Open a Google account. If you do not currently have a Google account you will need to sign upfor one
3). Open a Blogger account. If you do not currently have a blogger account you will need to sign upfor one. Since this is a Google tool, having a Google account will make this process much quicker.
4).Install Google Video Uploader
How to Use Google Video to Upload Your Videos
Once you have recorded a screen cast, follow these steps post it online:
1). Click on the Camtasia Studio icon on your desk top to open the program
2). Separately locate and open your screen cast (Hint: do not open your screen cast within Camtasia Studio, instead located it in the file in which it was saved. i.e. My Documents).
3). Your video will appear in the Camtasia Clip bin like this:
Note: Your screen cast is currently in .camrec format and to post it to the internet you will need to put it in .avi format the steps below will show you how to do this:
4). Click on the “produce video as” icon at the top of the page (it’s the one with the red cirle around it in the picture above).
5). A Production Wizard window will appear. Choose the 3rd option, “custom production setting” then click Next.
6). The next window that appears will ask you how you’d like to produce your video. Select AVI video from the list of options, then click Next.
7). The next widow that appear is AVI coding options. Leave everything as is and click Next.
8). The next window will allow you to select the size of the video to produce. If it’s not already selected, choose Largest Video Size (Recommended), then click Next
9). The next widow that appear is Video Options If it’s not already selected, under HTML choose Embed Video into HTML leave everything else unmarked and click If it’s not already selected, choose Next.
10). The next window allows you to select Marker Options. Leave as is and click Next.
11). The last window to appear is the Produce Video window. In the box entitle Production Name, give your video a title and click Finish.
12). A window will appear that says “Rendering Project”. This may take a few minutes.
13). Once the project has been rendered your video will appear allowing you to view it and confirm that there are no flaws or places that need editing. Once you are finished viewing your video simply close it., you will not need to access Camtasia Studio again.
Now you are ready to post your video to Google Video. To do this, follow the steps below:
14). Locate the Google Video Uploader program and open it.
(If you are using a PC, go to Windows Start button and find Google video uploader. See picture below)
15). Once the Google Video Uploader program window opens select “add” and locate the video that you wish to upload. NOTE: Make sure that the file you are selecting has .avi as it’s extension. For example- If your video is entitled “How to Knit a Scarf” it should look like this: how to knit a scarf.avi
16). Check the box at the bottom of the window that certifies that you have the necessary rights to make the content available on the Internet as set forth in the Terms of Service, then click upload now.
17). Enter the email and password that corresponds to your google account and click submit. (This may take a few minutes)
18). Now you will go to http://www.google.com/video On the left side of the page under the heading My Videos click uploaded videos.
19). Under the column status you will see “needs action”. Click on the link that says “add info” and add the required information, then click save.
20). Once the video information in processed, the status will turn from “needs action” to “live”.
To upload your video to blogger follow the steps below:
21). Under the status column, click the link “view”.
22). You will be taken to a new screen. On the right hand side of the screen click on the blue button that says, “Email-Blog-Post to Myspace”
23). Click on the link called Imbed HTML. You will see a box with html code that looks like this:
24). Copy the code and go to http://rarvideos.blogspot.com/
25). Click on the new post link located in the top right hand corner of the screen.
26). In the title box put the title of your video and paste the html code into the box provided. Click “save now”.
27). Congratulations, you made it! Your video is not posted on Blogger!
