General Description

Camtasia Studio is a complete solution for recording, editing and publishing rich screen video presentations. You can easily create training, demonstrations, presentations, and online courses. This tool enables you to connect with your audience by including screen recordings, audio, voice narration, PowerPoint, Picture-in-Picture and webcam video.

What You Need to Get Started

To use Camtasia Studio you must first install it on your computer. You can download the Camtasia program by visiting http://www.techsmith.com/download/licenses/camtasia.asp

How to Use Camtasia Studio

Once you’ve installed Camtasia on your computer you are ready to begin recording screen casts.

To record a screen cast, follow the steps below:


1). Click on the Camtasia studio icon on your desk top.

2). A window should appear asking you what you want to do. You will choose the option “start a new project by recording the screen”

(Note: If this window does not appear simply click on “record the screen” located under the task list on the top left side of the page). Image:Camtasia_studio_pic_2.jpb.JPG

3). The New Recording Wizard window will appear and you will select “Entire Screen” to record your entire computer screen then click Next.

4) The Recording Options window will appear next and you will want to select “record audio” then click Next.

5). The Recording Options window will appear allowing you to choose audio settings and test your microphone level. Choose “Microphone” as your recording source, then click Next.

6). The second Recording Options window will appear allowing you to test and adjust the volume level of your microphone. Once you have the desired volume imput level click Next.

7). The last Recording Option window to appear gives you instructions on how to start and stop recording your screen. Once you are familiar with the short instructions, click Finish.

8). A window called Camtasia Recorder will appear and to record your screen you simply click the record button.

9). An additional window will appear asking you if you’d like to continue recording with the set dimension. This is your choice. I always choose to proceed with the set dimensions so I click Yes.

10). Directly after clicking yes Camtasia Studio will begin recording both your screen and voice. 11). When you are finished recording press the F10 key to stop

12). Your screen cast will automatically be played back for you to review. You can choose to save or delete your screen cast.

13). If you choose to save your screen cast, save it in a location that is easy to remember.

14) After saving your screen cast a Post Save Options window will appear. You can choose to edit your recording, produce video in sharable format, or create another recording. If you do not wish to perform any of these actions simply click cancel.
